Do Design: Design Projects in Spaces on Dundus West, Jan 27-30

More exciting things happening this weekend as a part of Toronto International Design Festival.
New and exciting is Do Design in a Trinity Bellwoods area.
Dundas Street West (between Bathurst and Grace Street) becomes a "gallery", with design projects displayed in storefronts, walk-ups, windows, cafe's, galleries, bars, restaurants, boutiques, showrooms and even a lumber yard.

Toronto International Design Festival Jan 24-30

 DWR Toronto Studio
It will be a busy week. Toronto International Design Festival starts today. There are a lot of events happening in the city for the next few days. I still have to look through the schedule and make some personal selections. Some of the main highlights are:

Culinary Events this Winter

Rosewater Frozen Grapes

Winterlicious starts this week Jan 28 and continues to Feb 10. Did you make the reservations?  Here are the choices Fira has made for her week of indulgence. Will wait for her reviews.

Looking for more food related events that would help escape the dullness of winter?

Culinary Events series is featuring some of Toronto's diverse cuisine and notable chefs (tickets are still available). This year there are 14 delicious and unique foodie adventures for Torontonians to experience. The events range from a food fight competition at Fort York to a troupe of dragon dancers at Spice Route and so much more.

Create a Library of Things That Inspire You

http://www.imgspark.com/image/listing/kopanygin/

This is what I spent half of my Sunday doing. I found a great site where you can easily store images that inspire you whether it's design, fashion or any other objects. The application allows you to click on any image on the internet and add it to your account. Love it.

Here are my inspirations: www.imgspark.com/image/listing/kopanygin

Starbucks' New Logo, Coffee in General + Half off Tea Lattes

I have mixed feelings about Starbucks. No, sorry! I have nothing against Sturbucks as many of my friends would think. I just simply don't like the taste of their coffee and the whole globalization just bores me to death. When I hear "extra hot, extra skinny fake milk, no foam, double foam" bs I just can't help, but roll my eyes. I do prefer coffee shops with some charm and good tasting espressos (though nothing compares to lattes at Milano's Stazione Centrale...oh memories). But, if there is nothing around, I'll have my Starbucks tall latte no problem.

Capa got...

Even though sales are all around, I have no plans to spend any money. However, I couldn't resist those buys. Cheap is not always good, especially when it comes to shoes or bags. They have to be leather. Big no from me to all the faux things. But when it's cheap and it's leather - it's a perfect buy! (All the items available online or in-store).

1. Victorian-inspired pumps in grey ore beige. Leather outside and inside. Perfect for jeans, shorts or office wear. $45.49 at ALDO.

Ikat and Suzani Textiles

I am not going to overwhelm you with details, but both Ikat and Suzani are embroidery techniques used in Central Asia. I came across an Uzbek site that sells Ikat and Suzani Pillow and immediately fell in love! They retail for $29-$39, but I am wondering how much more it will cost to ship them...
